  •  ...collects bird-strike reports in Germany;
     
  •  ...compiles, updates and analyses bird-strike statistics for Germany;
     
  •  ...analyses bird-strike reports in order to gain a better understanding of the hazards posed by bird strikes;
     
  •  ...proposes, organises and monitors research projects and experiments;
     
  •  ...offers training courses for technical and operational staff;
     
  •  ...cooperates with international organisations concerned with flight safety, e.g. ICAO, IBSC ;
     
  •  ...maintains contacts with scientific institutions, environmental authorities and organisations, and other national bodies;
     
  •  ...evaluates national and international scientific literature;
     
  •  ...publishes the scientific journal Bird and Aviation.
