Foundation

The German Bird Strike Committee was founded on 30 July 1964 at the suggestion of the Federal German Transport Minister, as a loose federation of the institutions and organisations involved in aviation.

 

On 1 January 1981, the GBSC was entered into the German register of associations as a non-profit organisation. Since 28 January 1998, the GBSC has been acting on behalf of the German government, its duties and targets being derived from Regulations and Decrees of Federal Ministries and from recommendations of international aviation organisations.
